Job Family: Blast Furnace
About
Metallurgical engineer from Indian institute of Metals. Ever Since as a student, Blast furnace has always fascinated me. Then the Blast furnace was called a black box to lack of insights, which was a potential to take an opportunity to have great learnings in the process of unfolding. This passion has driven me to start my career at Tata Steel in blast furnace. In quest of more learning, I joined JSW Steel (then upcoming) because of the new alternative technology for making Iron, Corex. It has been a rewarding journey filled with the most satisfying experiences and has made me a subject matter expert (Iron making) for the group. I lead Iron and Coke making at Vijayanagar Works. I have extensive experience in leading roles related to the iron making units conceptualisation, construction, and operation. I have credit of seven national patents and a number of publications over the course of time. Awarded New Millennium from Indian Institute of Metals I have undergone various leadership programs from Cornell University and Advanced Strategic Leadership for Global Organizations from Brown University School of professional studies, Providence Rhode Island.
What I like about Steel Making
Steel is a backbone for every economy. Steel is everywhere in our lives for many reasons. Steel is a dominant engineering material and is one of the vital engine to enable growth and economic development of any country. Over decades, steel-making processes has evolved leaps and bounds catering the ever growing expectations as a major engineering materials with unique properties sustaining the upcoming alternative metals and composites especially like strength and life cycle. Steel is making long lasting positive impact in shaping the future.
What excites me being a Dean for JSW Technical Academy
JSW Technical Academy is a platform to provide best technical education and repository across the board in JSW Steel .It is an opportunity to be a part of creating a technical repository and giving back the expertise we have to next generations. It also gives us to do a framework, which is customized to JSW context where our needs are different from the perspective of the kind of growth we envisaged and the eco system. Steel industry is passing through a critical phase with challenges to sustain. We need to go in a different direction w.r.t challenges like climate change and technological new possibilities. I am thrilled to join hands to make our organization with more & more learning for future ready.
