After graduating with a degree in BE (Instrumentation), I began my career as a lecturer at a reputable polytechnic college in Hubli, Karnataka. It had always been my dream to either become a successful engineer or an excellent people manager at JSW Steel Ltd. Fortunately, I secured a position at JSW Steel Ltd., Vijayanagar Works, as a Graduate Engineering Trainee (GET) in the year 1998.

By embracing and adapting to new technologies in the field of Ironmaking, I was given the opportunity by management to lead the Corex and Blast Furnace teams, ensuring production targets were met without any deviations in safety and environmental compliance.

Recognizing my dedication and expertise in Ironmaking, management acknowledged my contributions and appointed me as the Maintenance Head of Ironmaking 5MT in 2023.

This marks the journey from a Graduate Engineering Trainee to the role of Associate Vice President of Ironmaking at JSW Steel Ltd.

Steel stands out as one of the world’s most innovative and essential materials. Being infinitely recyclable and exceptionally strong, steel provides a multitude of sustainable benefits.

The raw material for steelmaking comes from hot metal produced in blast furnaces or Corex. The versatility of steelmaking allows it to be shaped into various products such as HR coils, CR coils, bar rods, wire rods, etc., depending on market conditions. I am delighted to witness ongoing research and development in the steelmaking field, aimed at meeting market demands through the adoption of new technologies.

JSW is actively engaged in efforts to reduce CO2 emissions from its steel plant and has introduced the SEED program (Sustainable, Energy, Environment, and Decarbonisation) throughout the JSW Steel organization. We are optimistic about achieving the Grand Deming Award through digitalization and other Total Quality Management (TQM) tools. Looking ahead, we aim to produce environmentally friendly green steel in the coming days.

I am honored to serve as the Dean of the JSW Technical Academy. In this role, my objective is to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence at JSW Steel Ltd., while supporting the growth and development of the organization. As a dean, I will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technical education within our organization. I am enthusiastic about being a frontline executive at the Technical Academy to contribute to the enhancement of our organization’s future in a meaningful way.
